"We enjoyed getting your little package...yummy treats, Joyce, thank you. Our trip home was a little nicer than going there because our seats were in United Plus section, so there was more leg room. How did that happen, do you know? The flights were good. On this trip we went on the tour of the National Botanical Gardens near Spouting Horn. It was excellent. We also got to explore beaches we hadn't seen before. Donkey Beach was worth the half mile walk from the parking lot to the beach. We were the only ones walking and exploring on that beach! Have you been there? We valued having air conditioning. This is so important in July when it gets pretty hot and humid. Ahhh my body loves that humidity. I miss it already. The staff at Resort Quest's Islander on the Beach was friendly and helpful. We liked the peaceful nature of the place...not a lot of noisy families. Also, the webcam was a fun thing. Room 224 was awesome! Relatively small, yes, but, hey, we heard the ocean even with the sliding glass door closed. And we were steps away from ocean bliss. The coin laundry was convenient. Wish there were a restaurant on site. But we managed to find good places to eat by taking the car. The Coconut Marketplace is being remodeled so there were many empty buildings and the eating places were not air conditioned. But Eggbert's had good breakfasts and we ate there twice. Kauai Pasta, an Italian place in Kapa'a was a surprise. Delicious dinner there! The fish place/shave ice place in Coconut Marketplace had terrific shave ice and macadamia nut ice cream. We are hoping to take our grandchildren and their parents next July. Thanks, Irene " - Irene, California, 2009-02-03
