Scandinavian Splendors
I am excited to share news about an August Seminar-at-Sea I am attending on a 14-day cruise to Northern Europe on Oceania Cruises Regatta. This adventure has a wonderful itinerary, allowing me to visit Tallinn, Estonia; St. Petersburg, Russia; Helsinki, Finland; cruise the Baltic Sea; Gdansk, Poland; Copenhagen, Denmark; Berlin, Germany; Kiel Canal Transit; Amsterdam, Netherlands; Bruges, Belgium; and London, United Kingdom.
I have scheduled one night pre-cruise at the Hilton Stockholm Sluessen in Stockholm, Sweden. This hotel is just a two minute walk from the Old Town, and the hotel is set on Södermalm Island. A visit is planned to central Södermalm Island that includes a visit to one or more local attractions such as the Old Town, Royal Castle and Djurgården Park’s museums and zoo. If time allows, while at the hotel I plan to look out over Riddarfjärden's calm waters, relax in the whirlpool or sauna, work out in the gym or be pampered at the beauty clinic. A visit to an Ice Bar would also be very cool if I can fit it in pre-cruise.
Once the cruise begins, I will be visiting destinations that are predominately a blend of capital cities. The highlight is three days and two nights in St. Petersburg, a treasure-trove of priceless art in museums like the Hermitage and architectural gems that include St. Nicholas Cathedral and Yusupow Palace, where Rasputin was killed. I can hardly wait to sample the sensational and world-famous Belgium chocolates – yum!
