Ask Endora

Dear Endora,

Can you tell me the difference between published air and bulk air? I am most concerned about cancellations made without insurance.

Beth – Oregon

Dear Just curious,

Let me tell you dear that the differences are quite important. Now I always will recommend insurance, being in the travel industry you just never know what the future holds.

Published air is nonrefundable – this means you have a ticket that is worth a certain value, the price you paid for it. At a future date, within a specified date range, you can exchange this ticket. Each airline will charge a change fee, but you do have a credit towards future travel.

With bulk air each wholesaler charges a cancellation fee that will vary from $100 on up per person. After this fee you will get your money back in full – the key difference is you will get cash back.

Travel insurance will give you peace of mind...

Dear Endora,

If you could recommend a tour that is unique to Kauai what would it be? I am taking my entire family on vacation and want it to be memorable.

Elizabeth – Nebraska

Dear Elizabeth,

Darling without a doubt my most memorable tour on Kauai was a helicopter ride around the island. There just isn’t a better way to see the Na Pali coastline – the beauty is insurmountable.

Kauai is quite mountainous and 80% of the island is inaccessible by land.

However, if you are afraid of heights then a boat ride along the Na Pali will be the next best option.

Hope you have a fabulous time on Kauai,

Dear Endora,

I would love to cruise the Hawaiian Islands but I don’t want to be on a big cruise ship. I like small-ship adventures, especially those that offer soft adventure opportunities. Are there any small ship options to visit the Islands of Hawaii?

Small Ship Lover

Dear Small Ship Lover,

You’re in luck. American Safari Cruises began new small-ship Hawaii voyages last year. On a seven-night Hawaiian Seascapes itinerary, passengers will experience Maui, Molokai and Lanai by foot, kayak, paddle boarding, mountain bike and motor launch. In addition to enjoying nature and spotting humpback whales, passengers will learn about Hawaii’s culture from local residents. So, hurry and contact pat@incrediblejourney.net to set up your small ship cruise to the Islands today.
