Ask Endora

Endora,

I am planning to honeymoon in Tahiti this September. There are so many options I am confused. The Over Water Bungalows look so romantic, but taking a cruise allows us to visit many islands. What do you suggest?

Confused in San Diego

Dear Confused,

Choose a Tahiti Specialist. It’s absolutely necessary to make your honeymoon extraordinary. And with all the specials being offered this year Tahiti is truly on sale! There is a big difference in taking a cruise versus staying in a resort and personally if I were planning your trip I would want to know the types of properties you have vacationed at in the past, the activities you enjoy, how busy you want to be, your expectations for your honeymoon, and your budget. In short, both choices are fabulous, and there are deals galore out there for 2010.

Happy nuptials,

Dear Endora,

I am retired and can travel just about any time. How can I get the best cruise travel deals?

Looking for a bargain

Dear Looking for a bargain,

You and I think alike! I love looking and finding the best bargains, of course, only if they are for the destination I already had in mind. The truth about cruises is that if you can get on a group cruise and book in advance you will be able to get a good cabin and save about 35% off the published fare. However, if you are all about saving money and you don’t care which cabin you get, and you don’t mind if you travel to a particular destination during the cruise lines not so popular travel dates – last minute bargains abound. The cruise lines distribute these email blasts to our MCC Pat Ellington about two months prior to the ships sailing date. If you are lucky you can save up to 50% off the published fares! For Alaska reservations you will want to contact Pat in the month of February, for the Mediterranean you should contact Pat in March, for the Caribbean contact Pat in the month of September. Her direct email is: cruises@incrediblejourney.net.

Bon Voyage,

Dear Endora,

I want to take my family to Europe this summer. Would you suggest a cruise?

Anxious – Reno

Dear Anxious,

Cruising the Mediterranean is to die for. I have taken my family on a cruise to Europe and find that this is the best way to see many countries, cultures, historical sites. What other mode of transportation will allow you to unpack your luggage once, sleep in the same room every night, offer children’s programs, entertainment, fine as well as casual dining options, a fitness center, and the list goes on! You have a chance to tour the highlights of each port daily, and then are back in the lap of luxury as the day ends, sailing off into the sunset to a new port of call. It's a great way to go!

Bon Voyage,
   Endora
