Ask Endora

Dear Endora,

We are planning a trip to Hawaii, specifically Kauai and would like to know what your favorite side of this island is?

Alyce - New York

Dear Alyce,

My bias is for the north shore of Kauai, to me the spectacular beauty of this side of the island is intoxicating, not to mention all the numerous unspoiled perfect beaches. But I prefer lush landscape, cascading waterfalls and a penchant for things the way they were before mass tourism spoiled the Hawaii of yesteryear.

Best regards,
   Endora

Dear Endora,

I am traveling to Europe soon and would like to get your opinion on bringing a cell phone, calling cards etc., I want to stay connected.

Bradley – Oklahoma

Dear Bradley,

There really are lots of different options out there but what I found to be the least expensive way to “stay connected” is by getting a European cell phone that allows you to change your SIM card. Darling this is a pay as you go phone, no plan required. You can purchase the SIM cards and phones from a company called Call in Europe, here is their link.

Depending on where you are traveling to all calls you receive should be FREE, and you can then get a calling card at Nobelcom.com which your family and you can use.

The other option is to get apps that allow you to text free if you disable your Network and use just a WIFI hub. These apps require the people you will communicate with to get the app as well. But to be honest this last time I went to Europe I got a texting plan through my mobile carrier and it was awesome! It was less expensive that picking up those phone cards they sell. I was totally surprised and pleased to be able to use my own phone this time visiting Europe!

Stay connected!

Dear Endora,

I am in the initial stages of planning a wedding to Hawaii. There is so much information out there, where should I start?

Giselle – Iowa

Dear Giselle,

The internet is a grand source of information, albeit sometimes overwhelming. One great site to explore is:

www.gohawaii.com – this is the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau website. From here you can find information specifically for each island.

But if you already know which island you want your wedding on you can link to that specific island from the website above.

If you are planning a destination wedding that will include hotel rooms I would seek out a travel company that specializes in Hawaii so that they will be a liaison between you and the resort. This is a great way to get free help when you need it most! Our company, Incredible Journey provides these types of services for Hawaii – we offer privately owned homes/cottages/condos/resorts and can provide air/car arrangements. This will mean one stop shopping for all your guests and you know everyone will be taken care of!

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding,

Aloha,
   Endora
