Dear Joyce,

Vacation home rental in Hawaii has changed and unfortunately for the worse. Over the past several years vacation home rental on Maui has been off and on, and now once again it is off. On Kauai the same is true for homes on the popular north shore as homes deemed "conservation land" cannot be rented to vacationers.

It is quite sad that over the course of decades this never really seemed to be a problem, and now it is. Many of our clients prefer to stay in rental homes rather than a traditional resort, this way they can act like a local and see what it feels like to actually live in Hawaii, albeit for a short period of time.

It is important to comply with the state, but I feel the authorities are going about it the wrong way and penalizing not only the owners but the vacationers that have come year after year to spend their family holidays in paradise.

I fear the next few years will be quite hectic for vacation home rental in Hawaii but the good news is that on Maui owners can obtain licenses to rent their homes as vacation rentals. It is important to note that as of now there are only 21 "legal" vacation homes on the island of Maui!

On Kauai meetings are continuous regarding what to do with vacation rental property on parcels deemed as conservation land. We have lost access to only a handful of properties, but these were beachfront prime location spots that many visitors returned to year after year.

I can only stress the importance of reserving home rentals as far in advance as possible. We will all have to wait and see what the future has in store for home vacation rental in Hawaii.

  • Review of the Tahitian Princess

White-sand beaches on palm-fringed coral atolls, crystalline turquoise colored lagoons shimmering like diamonds in the mid day sun, balmy island days with a pace so laid back that even the severely stressed will be able to relax - that's a classic vision of the South Pacific. As Tahiti Tiare Specialists, Joyce and I recently cruised aboard the Tahitian Princess to expand our knowledge about vacation options in Tahiti. We sailed aboard the Tahitian Princess for ten days among the isles of French Polynesia visiting Tahiti, Bora Bora, Moorea, Nuku Hiva, Raiatea, Rangiroa, and cruising through the scenic Tuamotu Atolls. The itinerary encompassed three Archipelagos - Marquesas, Society and theTuamotus. Due to the unique itinerary, the passengers represented 22 different countries; most were seasoned travelers.

The most luxurious hotel on the island of Tahiti. Situated on the picturesque West coast of Tahiti, which is known for its tourist appeal. The hotel lies in an exceptional location of uncompromised tropical beauty facing a multi hued lagoon and the majestic sister island of Moorea just 11 miles beyond in the direction of the setting sun.

    Tahiti on a Budget

It goes without saying that people from all over the world dream of one day traveling to Tahiti. Well, for those who love the Polynesian culture it certainly makes sense to venture off to French Polynesia, as this is where the Polynesian culture first began.

As a travel professional, I can conclude that the main reason more people aren't flocking to this exotic locale is that most believe they don't have the proper funds to make their dream a reality.
