Dear Joyce,
I was reading an article today about how
somebody booked their hotel stay through an
online agency and when they arrived at the
hotel, well you have heard this before -
there was NO reservation. It goes without
saying this is a horrible way to start a
vacation.
As owner of a travel company I often wonder
why more people don't use a travel agent. My
first inclination is that many people like to
research their own vacation as it is like a
treasure hunt, they want to find something
nobody else has discovered - they want to
uncover the "hidden gem." And they want to
make sure they have found the best suitable
accommodations and destination that will
cover their needs.
I concur with those who want to find the
"hidden gem," as these are the places I love
to stay at - but why not then have a travel
agent book it for you? The services provided
by travel specialists are enumerable and the
agent you choose is working for you - for
free! I truly believe most travelers don't
really know what travel agents can do for them.
I know at Incredible Journey - we will make
your life easier! All agents specialize in
different destinations, so our knowledge base
is vast. Most importantly we plan
personalized vacations. Being experts in the
destinations we can offer our clients insight
as to when to travel to get the best value,
and to avoid crowds while still traveling
when the weather is at its optimum. We
contact all properties to make sure
reservations are in place, notify management
of VIP clients, secure any requests made by
clients, get complimentary upgrades - and the
list really goes on and on. Remember we have
relationships with all of the people who are
involved with making your vacation a success.
So, our clout goes a long way...
Whether you choose to use us as your travel
specialists, or someone else, first and
foremost you must work with someone who is a
specialist; I cannot stress this point
enough. And you must connect with your agent
- this is a joint endeavor when planning and
creating vacations. When you find an agent or
agency the goal should be to develop a
lifelong relationship. These are memories you
are creating, you just don't want to hand
this job over to anyone, do you?

As a long time cruiser, I've always dreamed
of traveling the seas under sail on a small
ship. After many years, my dream was finally
fulfilled in February when I took my daughter
on a 7-day cruise in the Caribbean (round
trip Barbados) on the Wind Surf, Wind Star
Cruise Lines largest ship, capacity 312. I
enjoyed my small ship experience so much I
signed up to sail the Greek Isles itinerary
aboard the Wind Spirit, capacity 148, in
September. This being my second cruise on a
small ship, I will reinforce what I said
previously. THIS is the way to cruise if
you're seeking a relaxing cruise, with first
class service (1:2 crew to guest ratio), food
and accommodations.

Holiday Travel Tips |
|
The holidays are steeped in family
traditions-opening presents at first light on
Christmas Day, napping during the football
game on Thanksgiving, lighting the menorah
during Hanukkah, inching the car through a
traffic jam on the interstate and standing in
an airport line that just doesn't move.

The small size and great maneuverability of
these fabulous ships allow passage to
secluded waters that have remained largely
immune to the encroachments of development
and tourism. Clipper ships harbor at small
ports and take passengers ashore in their
very own fleet of motorized landing craft.
When you travel aboard a Clipper ship the
voyage can change course as opportunities
present themselves.

Aspeta, I'm Sicilian! |
|
Well I am now back from our Sojourn to Italy
and I have to say all in all it was a
fabulous AND productive trip. Remember one of
our main reasons to travel to some of the
destinations, such as Sicily and Reggio
Calabria, was to find relatives. And we did
find relatives in Corleone, Sicily.
